OUR COMMUNITY. OUR PRIVILEGE. OUR COMMITMENT.
Since 1923, Russell Medical Center has provided valuable services and resources
to advance the health status of the communities we serve. We are dedicated to foster
the fullest sense of what it means to be a community partner in health, and do so
with a unified commitment of our physicians, employees, and volunteers.
Russell Medical Center has always considered our community benefit activities as
fundamental to our mission. The value we bring to the community is a responsibility
we take very seriously. Our outreach activities and financial contributions to community
programs are vital to affect change and make a real difference in people’s
lives.
As the 2nd largest employer of Tallapoosa County, Russell Medical Center significantly
contributes to the local economy with an annual payroll of over $19,000,000 and
community benefits contributions of over $6,000,000 annually. We are committed to
substantially supporting economic development, education and workforce training
initiatives, all paramount to the sustained vitality and quality of life of the
Lake Martin area.
The value of the health and education of our children cannot be overstated. It affects
not only an individuals’ life, but also the lives of future generations. To
that end, an area of significant emphasis is supporting the school nurse programs
in the Alexander City, Tallapoosa and Coosa County school systems. Russell Medical
Center also expounds upon community health education services through health screenings,
support groups, childbirth classes and self-help programs. We are also proud to
provide athletic trainers to multiple sports teams in our service area.
In addition to the many monetary contributions Russell Medical Center makes to regional
organizations, we also contribute human resources. Our active involvement in the
community helps make it a better place to live, work and raise families. This involvement
ranges from serving on various boards and advisory councils to hands-on activities
and participation.
Improvements to our physical facilities, technology, and human resources are ongoing
priorities of our strategic plan. Great strides have been made to better serve the
needs of women and their breast care as Russell Medical Center has added image-guided
biopsy and breast MRI to services available through The Women’s Center. In
addition, a physical therapist trained in lymphedema therapy, helps breast cancer
survivors.
Russell Medical Center strives to be the healthcare provider of choice for the communities
we serve. It is our privilege and commitment to deliver exceptional, personalized
health care to the citizens of East Central Alabama.
