Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
Russell Medical Center is committed to providing our patients with the most advanced,
comprehensive diagnostic services available. One such service offered through The
Women’s Center at RMC is stereotactic breast biopsy, a procedure in which
a small tissue sample is taken for analysis using a thin needle. Computerized imaging
assists the physician in guiding the needle with pinpoint accuracy to the exact
location to be sampled, sparing most women the discomfort and scarring associated
with traditional surgical breast biopsy.
One of our specially trained technologists and a board certified breast surgeon,
Dr. Barbara Michna, perform the procedure in the comforts of The Women’s
Center.
